A+E Hires Country Head For Korea
A+E Networks has appointed a country head for Korea, a new role, as it gears up to launch localized versions of History and Lifetime in the market.
Youngsun Soh, former market director for Twitter Korea, has joined A+E as Korea GM, reporting to North Asia GM Saugato Banerjee.
The hire marks a return to the broadcast industy for Soh, who established the BBC Worldwide channel business in Korea as part of a near-seven year stint at the BBC in both London and Seoul.
Korea, meanwhile, has become a major priority for A+E.
At the end of last year, the broadcaster bought two local channels (to be rebranded as History and Lifetime) as well as a stake in IHQ, a production and talent company affiliated with Seoul-centric pay-TV platform, D’Live.
IHQ and D'Live are working with A+E on distribution and original content for the new channels.
