CCTV14 To Air ZooMoo In China
ZooMoo Networks International today announced a new partnership with CCTV Kids, which will see original ZooMoo content roll out to more than 240 million viewers in China.
Premiering in prime time on 7 February 2016 for Chinese Spring Festival, ZooMoo will air daily on CCTV’s dedicated children’s channel CCTV14.
Originally conceived as a standalone channel, ZooMoo will be repackaged into 60 half-hour episodes coproduced by ZooMoo Networks, its creative team at New Zealand-based NHNZ, and CCTV. CCTV Animation Studios will also produce original animated content that will in turn be broadcast globally on ZooMoo.
ZooMoo will be titled ‘Animal Friends’ in Mandarin, and will see the addition of two new iconic Chinese animals to ZooMoo’s puppet cast: Panda and Snub-Nosed Monkey. The CCTV series will also include local stories, traditional Chinese art and craft activities, and originally composed songs that creatively combine traditional Chinese and modern music styles.
Mr. Zhuang Dianjun, head of CCTV Kids, said: “ZooMoo is a program produced under the China New Zealand Production Agreement, signed during President Xi Jinping’s state visit in 2014. In the trial screenings, we found that Chinese kids love the content, just as they love nature and animals.
“It’s a great opportunity for CCTV Kids to work with New Zealand crews so that we learn from each other through in-depth cooperation. We hope to introduce Chinese kids to New Zealand programs and also Chinese programs to young audiences globally.”
CEO of ZooMoo Networks International David Haslingden developed the channel in 2012, having identified a gap in the market for children’s programming dedicated to the animal kingdom.
Haslingden says partnership with CCTV is an exciting venture for ZooMoo.
“We are privileged to have CCTV as our partners in China - it is a unique opportunity, not only to introduce ZooMoo into the world’s largest television market, but also to co-produce new ZooMoo content with the best and most innovative children’s television producers in China.”
ZooMoo is available in over 20 territories across Latin America, the United States, Asia and the Pacific.
