Boomerang Launches OTT App For APAC

HONG KONG – Tablet-wielding kids and families can plug into an unrivalled selection of animated fun with Boomerang’s new mobile app which officially launched today. Available throughout Southeast Asia and Australia, Boomerang Watch and Play is a free app with a twist – allowing users to simultaneously watch video from their favorite animated content and play games. With a simple rotation of the tablet, multi-taskers can also switch between the functions in full screen mode.

Boomerang Watch and Play (3)Complementing the app, Boomerang’s new-look websites also went online today with the creation of for markets in Asia and for Australia. These sites will now be the official home for the channel’s games and video content and are fully responsive to mobile device viewing.

Boomerang Watch and Play comes loaded with hundreds of clips, episodes and a stack of games. The network's most popular shows include The Tom and Jerry Show, The Garfield Show, Inspector Gadget and Mr. Bean: The Animated Series. Upcoming premieres include Be Cool Scooby-Doo! and the brand new series Wabbit – A Looney Tunes Production.

Free to download, Boomerang Watch and Play is currently available in English through the App Store for iPads, and through Google Play Store for Android-powered tablets. A smartphone version is currently in development.

The app is also built with an authentication function which, if Boomerang pay-TV platform partners choose to initiate, offers in addition, a live stream of the Boomerang channel and an expanded VOD selection. This functionality is the same as the hugely popular Cartoon Network Watch and Play app, which launched in late 2013 and has already been downloaded almost 650,000 times, accumulating more than 24 million video views in less than two years.
