iFlix Secures Paramount, MGM & Starz Deals

iflix, Southeast Asia’s leading Internet TV service, offering subscribers unlimited access to thousands of hours of entertainment for a low monthly price, today announced it has acquired exclusive streaming rights in Malaysia and the Philippines for the wildly popular, Emmy® nominated television series from Starz, Black Sails, and other hit STARZ Original series and TV programming.

The dramatic adventure series, Black Sails, a prequel to the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel "Treasure Island," centers on the tales of Captain Flint, who has a reputation throughout the West Indies as being the most brilliant, most feared of all the Golden Age pirates. The captivating, award-winning show has been renewed for its third season, with every episode available online only on iflix.

The recently inked agreement with Starz Digital, the global digital and on-demand licensing and content syndication arm of Starz will give iflix subscribers in Malaysia and the Philippines unlimited access to some of the most popular STARZ premium pay TV Series, which in addition to Black Sails, includes The White Queen and all four seasons of the epic STARZ Original series Spartacus. With their action packed story lines and powerful characters, Black Sails, Spartacus and The White Queen will be dynamic additions to iflix’s diverse content offering.

Having recently launched in Malaysia and the Philippines, iflix will roll out its world class service to additional key Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam throughout 2015, offering consumers more than 11,000 hours of top U.S., Asian regional, and local TV shows and movies. Each subscription will allow a user to access the service on five Internet capable devices such as mobile, tablet, computer, or television set, for viewing anywhere, anytime.

Paramount Pictures’ movies will comprise part of the 11,000 hours of top television and movie programming available on iflix in Malaysia and the Philippines.

The deal features classic and fan-favorite films, including global franchises such as Star Trek and Transformers, animated hits like Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, and action-packed movies like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Watchmen.

The deal features some of the most in-demand and award winning TV shows including the hit dramatic television series Vikings as well as some of Hollywood’s most classic masterpieces from MGM’s premium library.

Iflix Group CEO, Mark Britt commented: “MGM is world renown for producing extraordinarily popular, award-winning content. We are excited to be able to offer such great TV shows and movies to iflix subscribers.”

Britt continued: “We have made a commitment to deliver the best selection of television series and movies to Southeast Asian consumers. This deal with MGM is an integral piece in fulfilling that promise.”

The programs comprising part of the 11,000 hours of top TV series and films licensed by iflix include classic franchises such as The Pink Panther and Legally Blonde as well as cult classic films Fargo and Get Shorty and multiple Emmy®-winning comedy Will and Grace.

Iflix also secured the international hit Vikings. Vikings centers on Ragnar Lothbrok, a restless warrior and family man who longs to find and conquer new lands across the seas and claim the spoils as his own. The series portrays life in the Dark Ages, a world ruled by raiders and explorers, through the eyes of Viking society.

Created and written by Michael Hirst – one of the premier historical story-tellers in the industry (Academy-Award winning film Elizabeth; and the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series The Tudors), Michael serves as Executive Producer along with Morgan O’Sullivan of World 2000 (The Count of Monte Cristo; The Tudors), Sheila Hockin (The Tudors; The Borgias), John Weber of Take 5 Productions (The Tudors; The Borgias), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn (The Tudors; The Borgias). Dirk Hoogstra and Julian P. Hobbs are the Executives in Charge of Production for HISTORY.

Vikings is an international Irish/Canadian co-production being co-produced by World 2000 and Take 5 Productions. MGM Television brought the series to the network and brings Vikings to the global audience, serving as the worldwide distributor outside of Ireland and Canada. HISTORY broadcasts domestically in the U.S. Vikings is produced in association with Shaw Media, and the series also airs on HISTORY in Canada.
